A bit of history…

Coast Academy FC was founded by Pete Kaine as the Whitley Bay Baptist Church Football Club (WBBCFC) in 1998 with a group of teenagers who played in 5-aside teams in the Churches Together Football League.

Over the following years it grew slowly and steadily as players starting inviting their brothers, sisters and friends to training and more teams were entered into the league. Some of the teams were successful – scoring lots of goals, winning leagues and promotion – others were less so, but throughout Pete and the other managers put the emphasis on participating, playing to the best of your ability, teamwork and having fun.

The goals

To give players an enjoyable experience and help them develop:

  • football skills
  • social skills
  • self esteem
  • self confidence
  • friendships

To create an environment of encouragement and acceptance for all irrespective of ability.
