Roy is the Baptist Union Northern Pioneer Coordinator and one of the overseers of the Northumbria Community.

Roy came to faith whilst training as an Outward Bound instructor and has held pastorates at Portrack, Stockton-on-Tees (1980-1988) and Enon, Sunderland (1988-1992). He is one of the Founders of the Northumbria Community where he has been one of the leaders since 1992.

Many will know that Roy has served in various areas of the Baptist Union and was President from 2005-2006. He is passionate about life, faith, culture, leadership, missional living, spirituality and building communities of diversity, as well as encouraging people to seek God and live generously. He is a writer, spiritual director and mentor, and is a visiting lecturer at several theological colleges and leadership schools working within both church and secular contexts.

He is married with four children and five grandchildren and enjoys living in the Cheviot hills of Northumberland.
