What We Believe

What We Believe

Whitley Bay Baptist Church exists to bring glory to God by living in His life. We seek to be obedient to the teaching of the Bible and open to the leading of the Holy Spirit as we seek to live the way Jesus taught.

Our Vision and Beliefs are set out in a number of statements that we have adopted or to which we subscribe through our affiliations.

The purpose of Whitley Bay Baptist Church is to bring people to faith in Christ and through worship and nurture to enable them to glorify God through serving in the church and witnessing to the world.

This purpose will be achieved through the church’s commitment to three relationships:

  1. The Relationship with God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit
  2. The Relationship within the Body of Christ
  3. The Relationship with Those Outside the Church

As a Member Church of the Baptist Union of Great Britain we subscribe to the Principles of Baptist Union. This means we hold to the authority of the Bible, we understand that baptism is properly conducted when the one being baptised is themselves a believer, and that we are committed to the task of sharing the Christian faith with others.

We subscribe to the Basis of Faith of the Evangelical Alliance (UK).

All those who become Members of Whitley Bay Baptist Church enter into our Membership Covenant, after first attending one of our Membership Matters classes.
